Commissioner Paul Mercier has recently announced that he will not seek reelection for a third term on the Sarasota County Commission. According to the Sarasota Herald, Mercier never intended to serve more than two terms and got caught up by people encouraging him to seek a third term. "I've had my time in the sun. It's somebody else's turn., said Mercier. Since 68% of the voters in the county approved term limits back in 1998, it's nice to know that at least one Commissioner is taking the will of the majority of the people seriously. I'm sure its easy to be swayed by special interest groups encouraging people to seek a third term, but its time for more Commissioners to do the right thing. Good luck, Commisioner Mercier and thanks!http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
